Crusca Pottery: Exotic Animal Series
Crusca Pottery is a studio run by three artists who collaborate, critique, and create. Between them, they have 46 years of experience. Being discouraged at the idea of elitist art movements and cold, impersonal galleries, they decided to open a shop of their own. They are currently building a website from scratch and feeling out the market for the best way to approach running a business. This particular series is called “Putting Off The Natural Man” and deals with various levels of survival. All the animals in the series are made as close to scale as possible. Only the head of the animal is made. When on display, the animals look as though they are trying to forcibly enter the space. Every human being has vices and virtues that he or she wrestles with. Each animal shows a very human struggle.
